VIOLENCE SELF-PORTRAIT

scroll down

This video is a recollection of experiences and feelings that I went through upon my return to the United States. Experiences I had in Chile led me to have a very difficult return to university. I struggled with mental illness for the first few months of my return. The piece is centered around my identity's fragmentation and the ongoing battle within myself to put it back together. In the end, however, as you grow up there are parts of yourself that may not necessarily harmonize with the whole of you, and the best is to let them go. We may try to hold on to them, but sooner or later, they go.

Final project for Advanced Video Workshop on SPRING19.

Filmed on a Canon EOS Rebel T5i
