When I think about Berlin, the first place my mind goes to is generally Teepeeland, the alternative community that adopted me when I first arrived to the city.
Located in the border between Friedrichschain and Kreuzberg, Teepeeland is an alternative intentional communities of international people living in Berlin. The community occupied an empty slot between the Spree (the river that crosses Berlin) and the abandoned Eis Fabrik (ice cream factory) and built a series of Teepees.
The community is home to over 10 people and through the years its consolidated more and more. They have a series of rules, decision making procedures, and a council.
Every Saturday, they organise a jam session where they gather a very diverse crowd, drinks and smoke around, and play all sorts of music. It's always a unique and fascinated show. I've seen fire spinners come over during the summer. Guests performing covers. Musicians using the stage to practice their sets. It's a high stimulating and vibrant environment to be in.
